Climate change adaptation is a cross-cutting theme of CEDAR's research. Climate change, natural hazards, and other forces threaten the functioning of the complex web of life and livelihoods that mountains support. Mountain people, particularly the disadvantaged and marginalized groups, suffer from increasing poverty, natural hazards, deprivation, and socio-economic conflicts. Under this thematic area, CEDAR aims to bridge the gap between research, policy and practice on climate change in Himalaya. We are working towards understanding the seasonal and sectoral impacts of climate change and strengthening the adaptive capacities of vulnerable communities through collaborations with grassroots organizations.
